About the Novels

The Sisters, Ink series consists, to date, of four novels. Here they are in order, with story summaries for each:

In this first novel of the series, readers are introduced to Tandy, Meg, Kendra, and Joy - four racially diverse women adopted into the Sinclair family at various ages and raised by a preacher daddy and a scrapbooking momma. This story focuses on Tandy, the Irish-American who is headstrong, stubborn, fiercely loyal, and about to undergo a geographical transformation. Tandy is the only sister living apart from the Sinclair family. Her position at a law firm in Orlando is threatened, though, when she upsets a high profile client. To endure her forced three-week leave-of-absence, Tandy heads home to Stars Hill, Tennessee, to reunite with the sisters and scrap in Momma's scrapping studio. But sleepy Stars Hill has changed in the three years since her last visit and Tandy comes face to face with a man who loved her and left her once before. Should she dare to love him again? And, even if she did, how can they be together when her life is in Orlando?

Kendra, the eclectic, artsy, African-American sister, is in turmoil. An early childhood spent with a drug-addicted mother left Kendra with an aching desire to be loved, but her adoption into the Sinclair family also instilled a firm resolve to rise above her beginnings. When her heart is torn between two men - one in keeping with her past, the other with her future - Kendra must decide if she is worthy enough to choose a bright future or stay a victim of her childhood. Are bad choices dictated by her genetics? Or does God really wash people clean? Clean enough to be different?

Chinese-American sister Joy is a control freak. The sisters know it, tease her about it, and love her anyway. Yet Joy's plan for a blissful marriage and 2.3 children with a white picket fence isn't going right. The husband part worked out fine. It's the children aspect that presents a challenge. Unable to conceive, Joy battles her husband's unwillingness to discover the underlying problem. On another front, she fights the questions that have plagued her since childhood. Why did her mother leave her at that orphanage? Was it her blue eyes? Is her destiny to find her own daughter in a Chinese orphanage? Can a woman whose birth mother walked away have a hope of parenting well herself?

Meg's easygoing, peace-seeking nature is the glue that held the sisters together through Momma's death to breast cancer and the years that followed. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned one, Meg's life post-adoption has presented few challenges. Her beauty and joy open doors she rarely realized were closed. Yet the headaches plaguing Meg are about to wreak havoc on her perfect bubble. When she collapses at her son's Little League game, Meg is faced with a road she isn't prepared to walk. The removal of a brain tumor leaves her unsure of her own emotions, body, marriage...life. When it all falls apart, can Meg find the perfect piece to reassemble her life?

Heads Up!
